Hey Gang,

I'm scratching my head with old school XH. I have a 4" XH pipe around 90 years old. I want to cut in and fernco a No-Hub Wye to ABS.

On the buying website it doesn't say XH but instead

Charlotte NH 00020 1800 Pipe 45 deg Wye-Branch, 4x4x3 in, Spigot, Cast Iron, Black, Domestic
Item #: NHYPPM Brand: Charlotte UPC: 611942002184

So, I then checked out Charlottes
Catalog and only see XH with hubs.

4 x 4 x 3 in. Spigot x Hub Extra Heavy Cast Iron Wye

Part #XHYPPM | Manufacturer Part #XH 00044 1400

It looks like ID is smaller on the nohub.

They don't make XH version just NH... Thoughts?

Rather then using a Fernco I would strongly suggest a mission coupling

Well, not thrilled with the mission clamp or the standard Fernco

There's a mismatch with ID.

Be rid of the P1066-44 P1056-44 and replace that with a banded coupling. I suggest you measure the pipe ODs with your long-reach digital caliper. There are a lot of sizes offered.

Do warm up to the one with the purple label if it fits.

Your old cast iron pipe had no defined outside dimension when it was manufactured. Outside dimensions were not necessary because each fitting was made from inserting a roughly the same outside dimension pipe into a roughly dimension fitting hub and the void filled with lead. Sometimes you will have to use a banded coupling that is specified for a different diameter makeup than what you think you're using it for. Only new pipe has standardized outside dimensions.
