Can this nipple be replaced without changing out the tank?

I have a nipple atop a SS Westinghouse water heater that needs replacing. But I'm worried about how easily this can be done without replacing the water heater. I've attached a few photos.

I'm most worried about the water tank and if that nipple can be replaced/repaired without tank replacement. Can you just give me a "feeling" about it based on these pics?

by "tank" if you mean Water Heater, WHs have female threads so with good tools, leverage and strength, nipples can be removed.
