We're in the market for 2 new toilets. We're almost ready to buy the Toto Drake round seat but had a few questions and was wondering if anyone can help us out. What is a bolt down lid as opposed to the other regular models? What is the advantage to having one versus the other? Does the toilet come with a seat or will we need to purchase one? It looks like my only purchase options are the soft close seat or the washlet. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Most stock the standard tank. I've never sold a bolt down lid before.

Any regular seat will fit the regular Toto bowl. Hardware stores carry plenty of choices in seats.
The Toto softclose does look best though on them.

Bolt down lid would be used in a public bathroom to stop people from taking the lid off and damaging the toilet, like smashing the lid.

Also useful in preventing "upper deckers"...:D

Wasn't there a movie recently where the "bad" guy was waiting in a public bathroom, with a toilet tank lid in his hands, raised in a cocked position? Then when the "good" guy came in........ WHACK across the face with the lid.

That would qualify as a good reason for a bolt down style......... :D
