Bad shower

I have 16 showers to maintain in the health club I work in.
ONE shower with Moentrol valve leaks from the shower head when in the off position.
I have replaced the cartridge and the spool valve. No matter what I do, as soon as you open the stop/check valves, water runs out of the shower head??

you are certainly not alone reporting leaking continuing after replacing old moen shower cartridges. most always the 1222 series.

"search" moen 1222 leak here and on plumbingforums.
On the 1225 old Moentrol with separate balancing spool, no clue. Spool wouldn't have anything to do with leaks, so mating surface of the brass body or poor part.

Thanks for your reply. Went back at it today and found the valve body to be cracked. Probably 20+ years old and heavily used.

Time for a complete new valve.
