Thinking outtside the box here. Is it possible to take a bad pressure tank (assuming I can get the bladder out) and reuse it in line with a good tank? I was thinking that once the bad tank has been drained and everything put back together. I could monitor the bad tank psi as they are filling. I'm sure there will be trapped air in the bad tank. The goal would be. The same psi in both. Thus increasing the stored water. Am I nuts or looking for trouble?

Yeah that's pretty nuts. Lol! But I understand what you are thinking. A tank without a bladder has no way of retaining the air charge and will waterlog very quickly. One good tank is all you need, The tank doesn't have to be very large if used with a Cycle Stop Valve. Cycling on and off is what destroyed the bladder in the first tank and eliminating the cycling will make the pump, tank, and everything last longer.

The bladder separates the air side from the water side. On most steel tanks, the air side is prone to rust when water contacts it so it would make for some disgusting water.

I thought so. Had to ask a pro to see how far out the idea was. A BBQ pit it is then. Thanks.

They don't even make good BBQ pits. The metal is so thin it burns through quickly. That is another reason not to use a bad bladder tank for water, as the top of the tank wasn't made or coated to hold water and rust out quickly.

Well poop!!! Target practice it is. Thank you all the info.

So. What are your thought on a cycle stop valve? I've heard both good and bad.
There are no bad things about a Cycle Stop Valve. Only bad people who don't want people to use a CSV to solve all their pump s problems. Any pump that fits in the range of a Cycle Stop Valve will greatly benefit from it. Even micronizers and bleeders will work with a CSV with a little attention to details.
