Dug down 5 ft to find a hole in the nipple attached to my pitless adapter ....but I'm afraid to grab that nipple and try to twist/take it off for fear of it breaking off - I don't see any threads at the top where it goes into the pitless adapter? Your advice would be greatly appreciated...

My well has a copper pipe that appears to rise from the pitless adapter (please see the pictures). The copper pipe has a plug at the top. The pipe is pressurized when the well pump runs. I looked at a new pitless adapter and the threaded hole in the top is for a "pull pipe" and is not even open...
