It seems odd that they would expect you to supply water with a female hose connector. Are you confident that that plastic isn't some other thread?
This is becoming more common for dishwasher connections.

The reason that it is not working is because that adapter is made to hook up to a 3/4 inch MHT Water supply. It is on the wrong end of the supply line, for its intended use.
The water valve is 3/4 inch Mips, Not MHT.
You need to add another adapter like this ;

Or get the proper 3/4 inch Fips to 3/8 inch compression 90.
