Hello water experts. I had a recent well test done and need some suggestions on how to correct the hardness and iron bacteria in my well water.
The well tests are as follows:

1. Iron bacteria is moderately aggressive approximate population = 150 Colonies/mL
2 Hardness(CALC) SM2340-B-2011 is 318 mg/L (PPM)
3. IRON(EPA 200.8) is .8 mg/L (PPM)

Water tested negative for E.Coli bacteria and Coliform bacteria.

The well pumps out 12.34 gallons per minute, this was measured just before the pressure tank. We have 3 individuals in the house and 2 full baths.

Currently I have a EcoWater softener that has reached the end of life after 20+ years.

Any suggestions as far as what to purchase to resolve these issues and where to purchase them from?

I'm all ears.

Thank you!

Take steps to not spray that water on the house, or you will get rust stains.

A softener could be used to remove the iron for the house use. Use a compensated hardness of at least 23 gpg. To have a softener remove that much iron, you need to give some extra treatment, such as adding some Iron Out or other treatment, such as phosphoric acid drip, to your salt, and probably do a batch treatment.

Do you get a "sulfur" (H2S) smell?

I would also sanitize the well and plumbing, if you can. https://terrylove.com/forums/index....izing-extra-attention-to-4-inch-casing.65845/ is my write-up. Summer in MI is a great time to sanitize.

Iron bacteria (IRB) is not harmful to drink, but if you can knock that down, that is good. The better job you do at sanitizing, the longer you can go between sanitizings.
