Weird older Shower Unit, Does Any one know anything about it?

My Shower unit broke on me and I was looking to replace it, however, the plumbing looked a bit weird when I removed the unit, where there are only two water pipes coming out of the wall instead of the 2 pipes and shower head pipe.

So I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of shower unit this was called because I've searched online and I can't really find any units similar to this one
