Hi all
I am replacing old sears cabinet model.
I am in Florida on a well
family of 4 average water use for household around 200 gallons a day
Hardness 6 gpg
Iron 2.5 ppm
manganese .2
ph8
peak flow from the pump 3/4 inch water line 10 gpm
I am thinking a 1.5 cubic foot softener with fleck 5600sxt
I appreciate any corrections and suggestions from the experts Thanks

That is a reasonable size for your water and family. With that much iron, you will need to do some cleaning, and I think you want to use the iron handling salt with more additives.

Do you have a sulfur smell? A softener will not treat that, but a separate unit that looks like another softener could do that plus the iron and manganese. If your old Sears unit handled it pretty well in the past, the new one will do better.

Thank you
There can be a very slight sulphur smell after we get heavy rain. I only notice it when I brush my teeth. I installed the Sears unit about 20 years ago. I layer iron out every 40 pound bag of salt and I use the Morton iron removing salt. I clean the Venturi about 6 months. I can't complain it has lasted way longer than it should have.
