I was replacing my bottom electric water heater element ..while draining it I thought it was done so I went to replace the element ..when I open it I was wrong still water so I quickly switch elements..but water got down below the element into the heater ..

My question is will it hurt to go head and cut power back on or do I need to allow time to dry to avoid a fire or worse
