Greetings, I’m attempting to turn off the water at the street for some bathroom remodeling. Is it the protruding sideways notch in the upper left of the picture that I should turn? Or maybe what I’m looking for is buried under the dirt? I know what it looks like on many of them. Thank you.

Some jurisdictions don't allow the customer to use the valves at the meter to control their water. But yes, the paddle on the left is the valve, it should likely turn perpendicular to the pipe to be in the off position, but verify first at the home to make sure the water is off. Meters in seattle use a similar looking handle, but perpendicular is Not off.

That valve looks like its on the deprtment side. close the cover if there is a valve on that side too and the arrow points to right its preferable to use one on right . But I cant see if there is a valve on both sides . dont hesitate to call depertment for assistance Ive gotten help from them several times including less than 2 weeks on a Sunday at a Customers home they came right out and it wasent an emergency
