Taco Flo-Chek serviceable?

It appears that my Taco Flo-chek (241) is no longer checking flow. With t-stat turned down, the circulator turns off, but there is still circulation based on pipe temps and the fact that if it's not really cold, the temp inside remains above what it is set to.

I assume this is because the guts of it get gummed up and it sticks open.

Can I open it up and clean it out or should I just replace the entire thing?

Can unscrew the bonnet to inspected the seat and check but there is a gasket. Has there been a lot of makeup water over the years? Reason is with the makeup brings in oxygen and brings corrosion.
