Our basement has an ejector pit/pump and I'm assuming the pump is original at 15 years. It's starting to short cycle, on for a few second and then off for a 15 or so. The short cycling is especially noticeable when draining the tub. I can stick a claw grabber through the wire grommet, pull the lever float up and the pump runs fines, is just as quiet as it was from the day we moved in so I'm guessing the issue is probably the automatic float switch. But being 15 years old, I'm guessing I should just replace the pump even though the bathroom rarely gets used
Anyway, I have no idea how to size a replacement pump. I know the current pump is a Zoeller but unsure of the model. Currently the pump is used for a full bathroom with a tub. When we do finish the basement, I'd like to add a bar sink. There's maybe 10 ft of head (from where the pump sits in the pit to where it terminates to the sewer line in the ceiling) How many gpm should I aim for?
