So I was going to replace both my shutoff valves, before and after the water meter. But the utility company said my curbside shutoff doesn't work. So I'm going to leave the valve before the meter and just replace the one after the meter.

Do you guys just cut out the valve. Cut off one side and un-sweat the other? I'm probably going to use a shark bite fitting, because the valve before the meter is a gate valve that lets some water through. Sweating probably won't work.

You are implying that the pipe after the meter is copper. Is that 3/4 inch copper?

You could have piece of pipe after the valve and then a repair coupling connecting onward. The repair coupling can be sweat slip copper or Sharkbite.

Here is a picture. It's the orange valve I'm taking out.
