Hello and thank you in advance for your knowledge and guidance! I'm converting my daughters tub to a shower. 1st time doing anything this big, but I'm the fixer of the house (not my husband LOL), love to learn how things work, and love sporting my pink tool belt. I do have a GC friend, and expert DIY neighbor, and continually am learning as I go with videos and forums...this forum has been so helpful! I've got everything tore out down to the studs, tub out and plumbing fixtures disconnected. There's a concrete slab where the tub was and I've dug down around the plumbing and cut off all the 1 1/2" pvc down to where it connected to the 2" vertical going to the P-trap. I'll be connecting to a prefab base with left drain so there's limited space to work the configuration and I spent 3 trips to Lowes/Home Depot and a few hours trying to dry fit it all. Two 45's were too short horizontally and 90's were too long. Two 60 elbows are perfect but I'm about 3/4" above where it will be flush (call it 1/2" once I clean & cement). Want to double check with y'all before I start wet fitting. My questions are:
1) Is it assumed the drain is properly vented after the p-trap, given there's water in there and no drainage issues occurred previously with bathtub?
2) Does my config look ok?
3) Best portion to cut down the extra 1/2"? I'll need that 2" pvc portion on top for the drain connection. In between the two 60's there's a small 2" pvc section, so either there or the existing portion coming out of the P-trap (not the easiest location to get a straight cut). How much should I allow with adding the thin set prior to setting the base?
4) Instructions (attached) for base say to make sure drain hole in slab is 6"....any idea why, when it connects to 2"? I was planning to fill all this in with the sand up to the bottom of slab, then mortar to make it level with existing, let dry, then add thin set to set the base. Should I just leave space surrounding the riser?

See photos...1st is how it looks dry fitted; 2nd pic the vertical pipe is placed where the drain will be. I have 5" horizontal from center to center of each vertical. From the top of the existing to top of the slab is 7 1/2". 3rd photo is existing.View attachment 100685View attachment 100686View attachment 100687
