Hi I'm a homeowner replacing the water line from the meter to the house in the Central District of Seattle. I've already replaced the 90+ year old iron water pipes with copper, running a 1-1/4" trunk through the house to allow for future basement apartment and back yard cottage. House is 2300 sf with an 1500 sf basement. The meter and goose neck are 3/4". I'm running 1-1/4 K soft copper and have a few questions:
1. I can't find an AY Mcdonald or Legend compression coupling that is 3/4" x 1 & 1/4". Can't tell from online if a 3/4 and an 1-1/4 will (thread) together?

2. Are insert stiffeners needed for using compression fittings with copper?
3. Is a protective sleeve needed on copper in the ground. Note I've drilled a hole in the foundation for entry to concrete in a PVC pipe then seal the copper with fernco couplings.
4. Once inside the house I'm assuming sweat connections can be used? I've also seen some reference to lining the trench with gravel?
5. Have I missed anything?
Any help is much appreciated.
