I have a sprinkler project that I am currently working on. I want to run an air line from a compressor into a water line to pressurize the line to create more of mist, instead of a standard sprinkler output. I tried installing a Tee on my water line, and then ran the compressed air line into the top of the tee, but when I turned on the compressor, the water flow stopped, and only compressed air was coming out of the sprinkler heads.

Is there a fitting that allows both compressed air and water to flow at the same time? I was looking at a shuttle valve but it looks like this will only allow compressed or OR water to flow and not both.

On the market there is a brand "Fogg It" that makes misting nozzles and several others. To use air as you want to will not work well if not at all since the air will mix with the water and the pressure won't be any higher than the water or air pressure supplied. You can use a booster pump to increase pressure for misting nozzles if needed. I do not know if a nozzle is made to use with air pressure. One problem is piping for the air pressure. It must be designed for air pressure whereas standard irrigation PVC is not designed for higher pressures that air compressors can create.

There is not one pvc manufacturer that would recommend compressed air in there piping or fitting. Pvc and compressed air is not dangerous its DEADLY. With air pvc shatters into pieces.
