I'm looking at a house with a septic system, (conventional in ground absorption field) that sustained damage to their absorption field lateral from a large truck rolling over it. Cracked the lateral in two places. Does anyone know if it's possible to repair a lateral without scrapping the entire field? I feel like it'd be possible to excavate the trench, splice in a new perf pipe and then refill, but am curious if anyone has had experience with this.

I have no relevant experience. It should be doable.

I expect that whoever does it will pump the tank first.
