Hello All, I have an issue with my well system and was hoping I could get some advice here regarding it.

Almost one year ago I replaced basically every component in my country water system short of the submersible pump itself, including the bladder tank (32 gal Wel-x-trol), pressure switch (40/60), I also incorporated a pre-filter followed by a whole house filter which then leads into a new water softener system which supplies a 1200 sq ft ranch.

I clean the pre-filter and change the whole house filter about once a month and everything has been working great up until about a week ago when I noticed the water pressure getting weaker than normal before the pump would kick in. So I went down to inspect things and what I discovered was the 40/60 switch is not kicking on until it reaches 30 psi yet it is still switching off at 60 psi. Any ideas as to why all of the sudden the range would change?

Thanks, Mark

Mineral encrustation under the diaphragm on the pressure switch causes it to kick in at a lower pressure. Sometimes it is the sense line going to the switch that is getting clogged. You might get lucky and be able to remove and clean the diaphragm but more than likely it will tear when you try. Better IMHO to replace the switch. At least have a new one on hand before attempting to clean the old one.
