I sell pex coil pipe in my store. We sell two different types of bands to attach fittings. One is crimped on, and the other is opened placed and closed on the barb. I have recently had two different customers asking about a plastic band holding the barb fittings on. My question is how do these attach on the tubing, and are they removeable? Or do they need to be cut off and reattached? Any information you can offer would be appreciated.

Uphonor (Wirsbo) uses a ring of (I think) the same plastic as the pex to reinforce the connection (sized to fit the exterior of the pex tubing). You put the ring on the tubing, insert the expansion tool, expand them both at the same time, insert the fitting, and they collapse to make the seal. You need to cut things to remove the fitting.
