Hi All, hoping you can give me some advice.

I'm installing a sump pit in my basement. I've read some conflicting advice about perforating the sump pit. My sump basin is about 34" deep (a 22" with a 12" extension). I have groundwater at approximately 30" below grade that seems to settle in the area where I'm planning on placing the basin.

I'm tying the existing weeping tiles into the pit that originally ran into a floor drain via a (rusted) gate valve. They originally discharged at approximately 22" below the floor into the drain. The basement stays fairly dry with no major moisture issues.

I planned on drilling some holes at the 24" depth to replicate the original depth at which the weeping system originally drained. Do I need to perforate the pit all the way down to the base? I don't see the benefit of dewatering the 30-34" depth. My biggest concern is that the pit will pop out of the ground. The extension creates a "flange" that protrudes from the circumference of the basin that I'm planning to concrete over to "lock" it into place.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
