In the old days, it was not uncommon to wet vent the lower fixture on a stack, but it is not permitted anymore.

I cannot make out your pipe sizes, but todays kitchens which are commonly plumbed with 2 basins should drain to a 2" line, while a lav is commonly 1-1/2".

So the higher fixture is fine, but the lower one would need one of those air admittance valves? Is there any real concern to be had with the way it is setup now? of course it was like this for decades before and I don't think it ever caused any problems to my knowledge.

the stack is 3" and the waste lines are 1-1/2". The kitchen is tiny and will only have one basin, would that be up to code or is 2" the standard regardless?
