Need advice on replacing my pfister shower handle

My pfister shower handles need to be replaced. I don’t have the money to replace everything and was hoping to just switch out the shower diverter handle. I sent pfister a photo of my trim and they told me what the model was. I bought just the handles online and they look identical. The problem is, they don’t attach the same way. My question: is this faucet I bought even going to work? If So, what do I need to buy to make it work. Photo attached TIA
