Since I moved in, my house has had an unstable standpipe made of 1-1/2" compression PVC parts and fittings for my washer to drain into. Take a look at the photo below, which I took after partially dismantling things. The standpipe is removed in the photo and connected on the right side of the utility sink drain in the photo.

I'd prefer to make a more stable 2" cemented PVC standpipe, if that would work. So what is the best way to do it with the main drain line coming in horizontally from the left in the photo? Should I upgrade the 1-1/2" sink drain fittings to 2" and then connect to the new standpipe in the same location, but with cemented fittings? Or should I just keep everything 1-1/2" including the standpipe? Any ideas would be appreciated!
