lately after using Morton crystal in my softener I am having crystal size issues. Small size is causing daily salt bridges. I have used Morton’s for over 15 years with no problems. The last 6 bags have had issues. I will be switch brands.

Wish I could help you but have you tried the salt blocks for a water softener? I think I've seen 50lb blocks instead of the crystals. I'm not sure if you are actually using crystals, or the pellets. I've only used the pellets for years and never had an issue. I could see if there are smaller crystals that you are using causing the bridging problem.

Funny my last bag of Morton's (pellets not crystals) looked way different from previous bags (mostly Sam's Club); darker (grey actually) and much larger than the normal white pellets I'm used to. I've heard there are differences sometimes due to mining and manufacturing but this is the first time I've seen such a big difference.

Are you certain that salt, was developed for water softening?

Briefly explain what you are calling a 'salt bridge'.

What type of softener? Total softening capacity? Type of controller? Include photos if desired.

Water source, municipal or private well?

What is the regeneration frequency?
