I’m plumbing in a new Moen 4 port Smart Valve in my home. Inputs are 3/4” and outputs are 1/2”. Since the limit for fixtures per valve should be 3 according to Moen, I’ll probably use 2 valves for right and left body sprays (likely 2 per side, maybe 3). Another valve will go to a diverter that will divert between a standard shower fixture and a rain shower. The wife insists I have a backup plan because she thinks it will fail. Is it possible/reasonable/ethical/not totally out of line to T my 3/4” hot and cold source pipes to run one set of pipes to the Smart valve and the other set to a standard shower valve and take the output of the standard valve and T it back in to my diverter input so that the shower head or rain head could be turned on from either the smart valve or just manually? Any issue with back pressure or air in the lines or anything else I‘m not thinking of? I plan to put accessible shutoff valves inline before the T’s.
Part 2 but similar question. The 4th output I plan to run to the garden tub so I can autofill it. Can I T this into my existing tub faucet in the same manner or do I need to have a second faucet into the tub? (The tub already has its own manual valve and faucet set.) Thanks a lot for any guidance!
