We lost our washer and dryer to flooding and I want to elevate a new washer on a platform about 3' off the floor. I can easily re-use the existing plumbing if I can increase the height of the standpipe to 50" above the weir on the P-trap, that puts the standpipe top at about 68" above the floor. I realize code says the maximum height of the standpipe is 18"-42" above the weir, but I wondered if it would really make much difference. The new washer is a front loading one with ejection drain line.

The washer instruction manual should (generally) specify the maximum and minimum height of the standpipe opening relative to the base of the washer. Are you saying your washer specifies a minimum height of 32" above the base of the washer, so that with your 36" platform, your washer standpipe opening needs to be 68" above the finish floor?

If the minimum height given your platform is more than 42" above the weir (maximum per IPC 802.4.3), then adjust your DWV plumbing accordingly.

Wayne, trying to navigate this new to me site, so this message isn’t related to this thread and I didn’t know what I should do. I’m a new member and am rebuilding our flooded house in PA and have some questions. Would you be interested in looking some things over for me and answer some questions?
