Background:

The sewer pipe was clogged about 3 weeks ago. The water came out from the basement floor drain, and the sewer pit was filled with dirty stuff. The pumper came, and unclogged, and put a camera to inspect the pipe. The sewer pipe is still in good shape. However, the the sewer pit was never dried again. Even it has water, but the water level was never rise further. (At about the even with the pipe hole.)

I finally got sometime yesterday, and I washed the sewer pit, and I bought a wet vaccum to try to get all the water out from the the sewer pit. However, even I got all the water all, there are still water coming to the pit, and back to the water level as the picture showed. The water seems to come from the side of the pit. The water is clear - no smell.

The cap is new. The old cap was very loose. With the new cap, I am worry to screw it tight would cause the water level to rise.

The house has sump pump about 20 feet away from it.

Any suggestion, is this a problem? if so, what should I check?

A sealed septic pit should not be picking up ground water, so mystery water could be from a leak from ground water.

However there could be water coming in through normal sources that you did not think about. An air conditioner or dehumidifier condensate drain could be a source of water into a sewer pit.
