Is it bad if I have a bypass valve setup on my wall and my softener has one as well?

Or is it just redundant? I was actually told its better to have a supply side bypass in addition to the one on the softener so I put one in when I put my softener in. So far everything has been fine for a few years. Thanks.

I'm no pro, but my opinion is it's certainly not "bad", although it does introduce complexity and extra connections and parts to fail in the system. Overall, I would prefer the external bypass. Bottom line in your case is: don't worry about it.
