Is it up to code to individually wire each receptacle in a room back to a single junction box or must they be wired together in either series or parallel? The box will be accessible, large enough to accommodate all wires, and appropriate sized wire nuts will be used.

Code doesn't say either way. Standard is to daisy-chain receptacles as generally requires less cable. Also, in finished rooms a blank cover for a huge box is not wanted.

Thank you! In my case it would be difficult to daisy-chain as it is an older house and the walls are already finished.

Just be sure you are using the correct size juncture box. There are many sites on how to calculate # of wires and sizing for electrical boxes. Another concern is the electrical load of any one outlet. Most of today's loads are low power LED bulbs and electronics but if it is counter top area or any outlet would be feeding an air conditioner, you need to be careful on the number of connections for the maximum load. The less the better.

Not sure of your skill set but the proper way to connect the wires is also important. This Handyman site show a way that is not best practices for solid wire. https://www.familyhandyman.com/electrical/wiring/how-to-make-safe-wire-nut-connections/. All wires under the wirenut should be twisted together before installing a wire nut. Again, no code requirements but pre-twisting the wires is stronger with more contact for little or no voltage drop. Buy not pre-twisting the wire may in fact get twisted by the wirenut but no sure way to know that it is good. Poor connections means heat generated. After making the wirenut connection, make a slight tug on the wires that none came loose.
