I am expanding my daughter's bathroom and relocating the shower. It is currently about 4' from the main stack so it doesn't have a vent. All the DWV in her home is copper; including the existing 2" shower drain. The new shower will be just about 8' from the main stack. I plan to cut off the existing copper line and use 2" PVC with a Fernco to join the copper line. I can just get 2" of slope if the new shower drain line starts almost against the floor. My questions are:
1) do i need to add a vent for this?
2) if so, how can I install the vent? I don't see any way to take it off with a required 45-degree angle. Maybe if I put the vent 6' down the line so I have 1-1/2" clearance above and use a 2"x2"x1-1/2" san-t rolled 45? The only other thing I can think of is to build a knee-wall against the shower so I can bring a vent up into it and then over to an existing wall. Thanks for indulging me.
