Hello, I have a double sink in my kitchen. On the opposite side of the garbage disposal when I looked down into the drain it's dirty and looks like there was some food or something down there. I put some Dawn and tried to clean it out. And when I use the garbage disposal the bubbles from the dawn came up in the garbage disposal sink. Attaching two photos. Should I have the piping redone under the sink?

not a good picture but looks to me like the trap arm is too high. some micky mouse hook up perhaps. Is garbage disposal waste above or below the trap arm ?

Yes. The horizontal pipe between the two sinks needs to be above the horizontal drain on the right. If it's not, it needs redone.

I see a white coupling below the trap connection. Black pipe top and bottom. It may have been the original height of the drain which would allow the disposal to drain. One way to make it work the right sink needs a longer tail piece. Looks like the trap would touch the cabinet floor. Remove the coupling and use the the original drain height. Your unlicensed plumber failed his Handyman skills.
