We have had a condo in south Florida for 14 years. It has only been used during summer and a couple of weeks in December, until this year. We are now staying in it full time and have noticed an odor sometimes when the heat comes on. It almost smells like wax. I am used to that normal smell when you turn on the heater the first time in the fall, but this seems to be different. We have been alternating between using the heater and AC for about 6 weeks and the odor still randomly persists only when the heater is used. There is no odor when the AC is used. Any idea what this might be?
