Hello all,

So, my upper piston is leaking and the valve is hissing or more like water traveling by when in the service mode, I switched to bypass mode and when the system equalizes the noise and leak stops. I researched and found the upper piston, lower piston, seals, spacers, and brine valve for $100 including shipping. The company I called wanted $600 to replace both pistons, so this was a no brainer to DIY, however, I am having trouble coming to terms with the $100 plus installation tool, stuffer tool, I cannot imagine a tool within a tool that is comprised of plastic and a spring would cost so much. I thought about making one out of PVC but thought to look to forums to see what I could find.

Has anyone made one of these stuffer tools? I would imagine I would need to measure the OD of the seals and spacers for alignment and have a slightly smaller PVC to push the seals and spacers out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Bill
