Hello,

I am wondering how many expansion tanks I might need for a camp that I am on that has 8 water heaters that are all on the same water line coming from the city? They range from 30 to 50 gallon water heaters? Thanks for any help.

One should be enough, but you will want a bigger one.

https://www.watts.com/resources/planning/etp is a calculator. You could plug in maybe a 350 gallon water heater.

So that would tend to give a rather worst case calculation. Worst case, all WHs get used to take lonh hot showers, and they all get shut off at once, and nobody flushes a toilet. That is going to be a rather rare occurrence. This calculator presumes a maximum design pressure of 130. Some are alarmed by that.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/s3.supplyhouse.com/manuals/1260456129163/20367_PROD_FILE.pdf has another take, rather than a calculator.
