Hello,

when I replacing my drain flange in my bathtub, the drain arm fell off. It was very loose. I managed to connect it again with my fingers through the drain hole. it felt snugged. I tested for leaks and it is a slow leak. I think it is made of brass. What should I use to seal this drain pipe under my bathtub with limited access space? I do not want to rip out my tub.

There's more than one way that can be attached. IF you attached it by hand tightening the nut, and it leaked, you need to get a wrench or a pair of pliers and tighten it up more. The nut compresses a ring around the pipe that makes the seal.

A bit more info on where and how it is attached might get you a better answer.

The drain arm is located under the bathtub I can only assume it attached with a nut and washer but a nut and washer is not visible when I look through the drain hole from the bathtub. The only way to access the drain arm is through the drain hole.

If the pipe is detached, it either broke off from corrosion, or worked its way loose somehow...you need to gain access and that might mean cutting a hole in a wall, depending on where it is in relation of other things.

A picture might help.
