Hello, I would like to add a 32 inch kohler devonshire tub. However, it is 32 inches. When I measure from the back, I can install a 32 inch tub. But the stringer, see attached, only allows for a 30 inch tub. Is the stringer necessary and if so, can it be moved or am I stuck with a 30 inch tub? Your help is greatly appreciated!

Your image did not work so we cannot see what you are fighting with. The "stringer" should not have any effect on how wide your tub can be. The determining factor is the distance from the rear wall to the outside corner of the alcove, measuring from stud to stud.

Hey, wait a minute.

This is awkward, but...
