Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of installing a vapor barrier in my crawl space and could use some advice.

What’s the ideal thickness for the plastic sheeting to effectively prevent moisture issues? Should I overlap the seams, and if so, by how much?

Additionally, is it necessary to seal the edges of the barrier to the walls, or is just laying it on the ground sufficient?

Any recommendations on specific materials or brands that work best would be greatly appreciated.

10 mil plastic. Had 4 or 5 mil down guy that built the house didn't remove rocks and didn't smooth out the ground. Didn't overlap bought 20x100' roll crawlspace is 34x45 with a concrete foundation wall down the center with a 40" pass thru. Wanted to run the plastic up the outer walls a foot fasten with oversize washers and 1/4" drive in anchors my body said no at this time. Also have a crawl space dehumidifier and have a remote sensor for temp and rh. Closed up all vents with spray foam.
