Boiler Auqastat and hi Limit accuracy

Aquastat is set 140 but shuts off at 165.
Also the hi limit is off by 18 degrees f

If the sensor in the boiler's sensor well isn't making good contact it could be off by that much. If the well is dry or the thermal grease has flowed out it could be a simple as re-gooping the thing.

If your using a infrared thermometer they are not as accurate as a contact thermometer. Also if the bulb is strapped to the pipe it needs thermal grease like dana stated and insulated. What are the brand and complete model numbers because the differential could be throwing off the control.
