I'm looking for advice on the settings for my fleck 5600sxt valve. We are on a well and the water hardness is 18 gpg with an iron level of 1.6 ppm. The capacity of the softener is 80,000 grains, the valve is a 3/4" paddle wheel, the resin is 10% cross-link and the sticker on the brine input is 0.5 gpm. There are 7 people in the house, my wife and I plus five kids ages 1, 2, 6, 6, and 11, and with that many kids there are usually extra kids at our house.
Here's what I've come up with so far based on other threads:
System info (not programmed)
salt lb/cuft = 8 ; A choice ( efficiency vs capacity)
BLFC = 0.5 ; Brine Refill rate GPM
cubic ft resin = 2.5 ; ft3 resin = (nominal grains)/32,000
Raw hardness = 26 (18 + 1.6 x 5) ; including any compensation
People = 7 ; gallons affects reserve calc
Estimated gal/day = 420 (7 x 60); 60 gal per person typical calc
Estimated days/regen = 5.8 (63,000 / (420 x 26)) ; Computed days ignoring reserve
Fleck 5600SXT Settings:
DF = Gal ; Units
VT = dF1b ; Downflw/Upflw, Single Backwash
CT = Fd ; Meter Delayed regen trigger
NT = 1 ; Number of tanks
C = 63.0 ; ( 25,200 grains/lb x 2.5 cuft for 8 lb/cuft) capacity in 1000 grains
H = 26; Hardness-- compensate if needed
RS = rc ; rc says use gallons vs percent
RC = 420; Reserve capacity gallons
DO = 14 ; Day Override
RT = 2:00 ; Regen time (default 2 AM)
BW = 10 ; Backwash (minutes) This seems to be sugggest to 5 on other threads?
Bd = 60 ; Brine draw minutes
RR = 10 ; Rapid Rinse minutes This seems to be sugggest to 5 on other threads?
BF = 14 ; (8 lb/cuft x 2.5 cuft / (3 lb/gallon x 0.5 gallon/minute)) Brine fill minutes
FM = P0.7
Thanks in advance for any insight.
