I think I over bid this one....

have not heard back from them as of yet....

perhaps I over bid this one at $3800...

but that was also with plumbing them in
series and installing a bypass on both heaters.
and repairing the gas lines under the haters...

oh well....its ok with me either way....

Could you have intentionally overbid this job?:D
I have sometimes employed that method... only to have them accept the bid.:(

    I probably did

    Well, yes I probably did....

usually a 75 gallon power vent is going for about
    1800-2200 around here....

I saw another plumbing copmany at their home yesterday...

I just cant bring myself to get me or ohers hurt or strained
badly ---and spend basically the whole day doing the job

and then underbid the job on top of that..

    felt a sigh of releif

I am sure those felows had a great time. ...all day Thursday..

and I wonder if any of them called in sick on Friday...

Poly lines, eh? I had some of that crap in my old apartment .... Started leaking in the walls ... I found out when mildew and mushrooms started growing! After telling my landlord and him telling me it would be about a month before they could repair it, I opened up the wall myself and repaired it. I told him I wanted reimbursed for my time, materials and three hours worth of cleaning (carpet, walls, rotten stuff, etc). Stupid F'er sends me $40. No, I'm not bitter...

    A personal mess

This is my house that I'm in the process of redoing. You guys will notice many things that are obviously driving me nuts, even though I'm not a plumber.
Also, what are your collective thoughts on the best way to move that vent pipe into the wall so I don't have to reach around it to turn the light switch on? I haven't looked in the attic yet to see if I can go straight into the roof or not. I would prefer to not rip the roof apart to revent it

    s&h

all you will have to do is pay a small
    shipping and handling fee.......

Why not do like the telemarketers do and charge a LARGE shipping and handling fee? After all, that is really where they make their money, not by giving you $89 worth of product for just $19.99 plus S&H, and if you call within 10 minutes they will double the quantity, (just pay S&H for the additional items).

    Vent pipe copper?

Is that a piece of 4" copper for the main stack? If so, remove it, sell it, and pay for everything you need for your upgrades!

Very poor water heater hook up

is this pig slop or something else???

    Posted for your consideration....

something I changed out this week.....

two 48 year old water heaters hooked up in series, with a gravity feed re-cirualtion line.

Everything was still working properly but,

the water went into the Rheem 50 gas heater first and then fed over
to the stand by 50 electric tank and then came out of the stand by tank and fed the house......

notice the recirulation line feeding back into the bottom of the gas tank....

the water was hot as hell coming out of the electric tank even though it has no source of power...

so this puppy has been cranking along pushing water through the system
    for 48 years....

It makes me wonder how much it cost to maintain this mess and

howmuch cheaper the75 gallon Brad White is gonna be on the gas bill???

notice in the second picture the SS hose clamps holding the one red line together..

this stuff is only about 4 years old, and I wonder what it will look like in another 10 years from

I go t the hell out of there as fast as I could...

Satruday at 12 noon and the pex pipe above your work decides to start leaking

    HVAC return under tub...?

Here, (just for fun) is an example of poor workmanship of how not to install underground duct work. This, (concrete pipe) duct work was found when the owners of the house wanted to do a bathroom remodel.
Apparently, the previous owners of the house already did a remodel on the bathroom, where they relocated the air handler and installed the tub where the old air handler use to be.
I don’t think this system was too air tight. Notice the snake skin, and there was also a ton of rat droppings….yuck!
They were kind of thinking on this one. If your tub water is too hot, just turn on the A/C....LOL.

Come on…this is a good one…I want a plunger! LOL!

    Ha Ha Ha Ha

I have seen my share of that kind of work...only we use braided stainless supply lines instead of plain rubber hoses...:)

They need a little PEX there to round out the job...

This is a fantastic thread. :)

...Dad and grandpa were plumbers, and I did a little with them growing up. I remember my dad's comment on a "creative" drain vent assembly (several 45s adding up "correctly"): "Well, the water's gonna get dizzy."

nice combination of tub and breaker box

I ran across this little jewel today in a vacant rental home..

you almost have to put your hand on the breaker box to stable yourself just to step into the tub..

my picture does not do the set up justice.
if you notice that the wire going into the top right side of the box is actually frayed and
has no romex connector attached to it.......

    ....

    .

if you actually used the hand held sprayer, and stood up
you would hit your head on the ceiling

Its just another little slice of heaven in indiana.....
