Tank order for water softener system pH neutralizer/iron or reverse?

All, I'm refreshing our water softener system and I wanted to double check on the tank order. Right now it's setup as follows: Well Water - pH neutralizer - iron removal - resin tank - house supply. We have a heavy concentration of iron in the water so I'm wondering if it's correct to have the...

    Soda Ash Injection Pump Problem

All, My elderly neighbor asked me to look at his soda ash injection pump which apparently was running continiously. I haven't dealt with anything like this before so I thought I would ask here. My advice to him was to contact a plumber, but for my knowledge what would cause a pump like this to...

    Leaking Furnace Gas Valve?

All, I occasionally smell natural gas around the inside of our furnace, sometimes after I lower the thermostat when the heat has been running, other times after the furnace hasn't been running at all. The gas company has been out to check it a couple of times w/o any luck. I did replace the...

Well water pressure issue, pump cycles up in three segments

Ok, the well guys were out this morning and replaced the pump. They installed a Schaefer Series V 10GPM 1/2HP pump and so far all is back to normal. It appears that the well is actually 133' deep, not the 150' on the well report we have. The water level was at 29', hopefully that will rise after...

Considering a well storage tank...questions/best practices

I'm considering the installation of a 650 gallon storage tank to supplement our well system. I found a tank that I can place on the exterior pad, just on the other side of the wall from where our current pressure tank is setup. 1. Would a submersible pump be as good as a booster pump? I'm not...

Well water pressure issue, pump cycles up in three segments

All, Ok checked the feeds going to the pump tonight and when the pump stops, but the contacts stay closed the amp reading goes from average of 12A to zero. So...I'm thinking this may be a pump going bad? I'll get the well guy out to verify, but if that's the case I'm actually relieved that the...

Well water pressure issue, pump cycles up in three segments

Update - Today I replaced the pressure switch, nipple and the gauge just to be sure that they were not causing any of the issues. Unfortunately that did not solve the problem. The well pump is still running up to 40 lbs, stopping for a minute, and then running again up to the cutoff pressure...

Well water pressure issue, pump cycles up in three segments

Ok thanks. We are getting air in the water, but only when the water softener regenerates once every four days, a separate problem I think.

Well water pressure issue, pump cycles up in three segments

All, Recently we have noticed that our water pressure is dropping to zero at the faucet after running a hose for fifteen minutes or so. After the hose is shut off the pressure comes back fairly quickly. Today I checked the well pressure tank and it's reading correctly (28 psi on a 30 psi...

Hot water copper line corrosion at SS Flex connection

Decided to replace the compression fitting, which was probably slowly leaking, with soldered connections. Problem solved...thanks all.

Hot water copper line corrosion at SS Flex connection

Exactly what I plan to do. I had no idea that the compression fittings would be an issue or I would have done that in the first place. Still don't know why there would be any corrosion, but I'll fix it and move on. Thanks...

Hot water copper line corrosion at SS Flex connection

All, A few months ago I installed a new electric hot water heater. Yesterday I noticed corrosion at the connection between the SS flex and the copper pipe on the outlet side. I thought the SS flex was lined with plastic to prevent that; it appears the corrosion is between the brass and the...

Well Pump Check Valve, Air in the Lines, or something else?

I have narrowed down the air leak, which shows up as air in the brine line, to the time after the brine well is empty and the time when the cam kicks off the brine injector (start of the rinse cycle). Sounds like the leak is coming from the control head area. The check valve has been replaced...
