Is it undersized sump basin or inadequate discharging or both?

Thank you reach4. I will try to measure that, need to find a feasible way though as that 1.5" pipe taps into the 4" gutter drain which goes to the storm drain curbside.

Is it undersized sump basin or inadequate discharging or both?

Thank you Reach4 for bearing with my multiple posts. Initially my plan was to have this 1hp different pump in with existing discharging just to see if it is improving the situation despite the undersized discharging pipe, then i read a little bit more and saw the backpressure problem when using...

Is it undersized sump basin or inadequate discharging or both?

Don't mean to ignore your reply. I googled and found maybe this section of the forum is the correct place to ask and tried to provide as much information as i have right now altogether. If it's inappropriate I will delete this and update in my earlier post (I did not get any reponse after my...

Is it undersized sump basin or inadequate discharging or both?

Have this single pump/pit to collect ground water from a downward driveway, backyard and neighboring yard inside this below grade sideload garage. arrows shows water direction. All gutters are drained through separate drain pipes goes directly into stormdrain curb side, not contributing to this...

How do I determine sump/sewage pump's discharging capability?

How do I know if a pump is stronger if I know the current discharge rate is not sufficient, for example, this 1/2 hp liberty pump has rate of 8400 GPH at 5ft, but the 1hp pump I got only has 7250 gph at 4ft. (curves from manufacturers attached), but requires much higher current/power than the...

Vertical pipe above check valve, is it filled with water always? (external pump)

Was thinking putting an external sump pump outside the garage. Shortest pumping distance will be pump straight up and it will meet the gutter downspout which goes down thorough an elbow into a horizontal pipe around the back of the house, otherwise I will need 20 ft pipe on the driveway to...

Ideas needed to deal with run off ground water from driveway

What I have right now is a Zoeller M53 0.3hp sump pump (with a 1.5 inch discharge) that was replaced by the current Liberty LE50 (with 2 inch discharge). Is there a way of using these two together (with Zoeller on top)? I understand that it would be beneficial for each pump to have their...

Ideas needed to deal with run off ground water from driveway

Valid points. Not a 6inch gutter, and there is one spot right above the left side entry door, where the roof angled together and the water would overflow outside the gutter guard and pour down to the driveway, other than that, I checked my gutters downspouts during the rain storms, seems no...

Ideas needed to deal with run off ground water from driveway

It would be pretty difficult for me to do the calculation. Do I estimate first section (straight up pipe) then get the result (flow speed) and use that speed as the input flow speed for the 2nd section, so on so forth? Is the black section between the pump discharge port and the straight 1.5...

Ideas needed to deal with run off ground water from driveway

Yes, the pit's water level goes up when the rainfall is crazy heavy, if more/faster, it actually overflows with pump kept running. But most of the rainfall, it cycled fine. I asked about the trash pump, because the run off water is dirty, there are sand, dirt particles, some times the leaves...

Ideas needed to deal with run off ground water from driveway

I also got some suggestion against putting an external pump because of the risk of frozen season. Instead, I was advised to reduce the number of right angle turns and also replace the 1.5 inch pipe to 2in or 3 inch all the way.

Ideas needed to deal with run off ground water from driveway

House we bought a year ago had this strange setup. In order to accommodate the addition of a 2-car garage and the sunroom above at the rear of original house, they carved the driveway into the original backyard, and now the driveway is downward, with the end of it enclosed by the retianing...
