I am looking at having our bathtub replaced. Our current tub measures 58.5 inches x 40 inches. One contractor says that I need to find a replacement tub smaller than the 58.5 inches, while another states that a 60 inch tub is what will fit my current opening. Which contractor is telling me the truth?

I don't know of any tubs that are 58.5".
Tubs are either 60" or there were also a few that were 54". For a standard 60" tub subtract 1" for backer board, and 1/2" for tile.

Oh wait...........that only gives you 58.5" after you remove the backer board and the tile. Snap! It is a 60" tub.

Hey, wait a minute.
