My elderly neighbor needs to replace a shower faucet cartridge but the neither the handles, cartridge or valve body(3 handle) are marked with a brand name. The valve assembly was installed 10 years ago but she can't remember the plumber's name. Several plumbers quoted replacing the valve assembly for $1200 -1500. Ouch!
Is there a way find the manufacturer/brand Thanks.

A picture of the trim and handle may be all we need. 800 pixels or less.
If you do pull the trim, then an added picture of the valve helps too.

In addition to what Terry said, it also helps if you can remove the cartridge. Clean it up and lay it next to a ruler and take a picture. A picture of the end of the cartridge where the handle attaches can be very helpful as well.
