Hello all,

Newbie here. Sorry if this is a dumb question. I inherited a clawfoot tub with a chrome plated brass overflow/drain assembly. I took it apart to clean it up and have a couple of questions: The brass washers look old and crappy, can I replace these with poly washers or do they have to be brass? Second: on the tailpiece (it has very fine threads on both ends) that heads from the T to the trap, how do you make it watertight, do you just use pipe dope and screw it in or do you also use a washer and locknut? Thank you very much!

The threads can take pipe dope for sealing where it meets the tee.
I've also used a slip joint washer and nut, but normally your're pretty tight for space there.
