My well is a depth of 575 feet. I need advice on what is a fair price to replace 1 HP Gould pump hung at 567 feet deep?

I get calls like this every day and here are the questions I ask.

With or without wire?
Two or three conductor wire?
If three wire, new control box?
Pump Tek?
With a new pressure switch, gauge and nipple?
New well cap?
Poly or sch 80 drop pipe?
Easy location, or does they guy have to use mud mats to get his truck in?

If three wire, new control box? Maybe new bos needed
Pump Tek? No Pump Tek required. I was told a 1 HP Gould Pump was installed in 1999 before I bought the house, therefore no need.
With a new pressure switch, gauge and nipple? Possible new pressure switch.
New well cap? Cosmetically eh cap looks perfect. Not sure if a new one would be needed.
Poly or sch 80 drop pipe? Not sure.
Easy location, or does they guy have to use mud mats to get his truck in?
Pretty easy to access. Some grass to drive over...maybe 100 feet total...

Could be steel, but here in Ct it would be sch 80 or sch120.

My son and I went to pull a 1.5-5 on 560' of sch 80 last week with #8 cable and there was a T bar on the pitless. I asked the owner about it and he said he'd thought about pulling it by hand.

Good thing he didn't.

27 joints of galv pipe. All day job for two men and a pump hoist.
So maybe $1000 plus $1600 (after markups) for the pump, control box, splice kit , new pitless gasket, incidentals, plus sales tax on the $1600?

LMAO

$1600?

A Stainless Pentair 1hp-5 is $1378 list, and I don't know anyone who installs pumps for less than list.

10/2 plus ground pump cable from Aquascience is .97 a foot... And that's less than list.

So already we're up to $1935 and we haven't added torque arrestors, pressure switch gauge and nipple pkg, splice kits, 1.25x1 SS bushing, well cap ( if current cap doesn't meet code), labor or hoist truck.

This is a $3250-$3300 job everyday of the week in Ct, $3500+ on a weekend, and hold your ankles on a holiday, especially Christmas.....

He said it was hung at 567'. That tells me it's on galv pipe. Thank god we don't have to go that deep here.

I can not imagine drilling that deep in hopes of getting good water.

You would think the water would be very good.

A pitcher pump works here.

Don,

We have many wells here that are 400-600 ft but we are blessed with a high static level. My own well is 500' but the static is 80'. My 4" well makes +/- 100 gpm.

What I meant was thank god we don't have to set our pumps that deep.
