I need to unsolder some copper pipe. I was installed in 1971. The area has very hard water. Will this lead in difficulty unsoldering the pipe?

What will make unsoldering difficult is too much heat..

Depending on where you're working and how the fitting is set up, a little bit of tapping the two pieces of work will get them apart easier while you're heating the fittings.

Unsoldering a old joint with hard water is going to take a lot of heat if there is any build up of minerals especially if its hot water. Minerals hold moisture carrying your heat away plus it will be 50/50 solder lead wasn't outlawed till 1986.
