Hi I’m interested in purchasing a TOTO Aquia IV two piece toilet I found locally for a great deal. We’re replacing some American standard one, which seems to have a rough in somewhere around 11.5”, what’s the possibility this Aquia IV would fit (it’s a 12inch rough in)? Of course Toto doesn’t make a unifit adapter for this two piece Aquia from what I understand.

Hopefully someone can recall what sort of clearance might be between the tank/lid and wall when installed

Find out which toto Aquia IV model your local plumbing shop is selling and download the spec sheet from the Toto website. I randomly chose an Aquia IV, downloaded the spec, and circled the gap between the tank and wall. the Gap is 3/4" with a 12" rough in. So if your rough in is 11 1/2" then this gap becomes 1/2" less. Leaving you with a 1/4" gap between the tank and wall.
Equally important is the measurement from the center line of the bowl to the center line of the Angle stop coming out of the wall (5 7/8"). The Skirt on the toilet could interfere and or bump into your Angle stop preventing you from being able to install this toilet.
Good Luck.

Note that there is usually a bit of slop in positioning the adapter, and that can let you fine-tune the clearance.

Also note that you should use acrylic caulk to not only seal ~90% of the edge to the floor. That does double duty in holding the toilet front from sliding.

We refuse to install Aquia any more. The floor attachment blocks are a joke and the small water spot is downright revolting.
Plus repair parts are Toto-only. What less could you ask for.
